EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Full-time

Compensation $80,000 – $85,000

Capital Community Media (CC:Media), a trusted nonprofit media organization serving Salem and Marion County for over 35 years, is seeking a visionary, community-driven leader who is both strategically minded and deeply collaborative to serve as its next Executive Director.

Nestled in Oregon’s scenic Willamette Valley—just a short drive from the mountains, the coast, and the vibrant city life of Portland—Salem offers an exceptional quality of life. As Oregon’s capital city, Salem blends the charm of a close-knit community with the energy of civic engagement and innovation. It’s a place where leaders come not just to work, but to live with purpose and make a difference.

CC:Media is deeply rooted in the values of inclusion, civic participation, and storytelling that reflects the diversity of the community. Our mission is to empower all people to communicate and connect through access to media, fostering an informed public and a vibrant local democracy. We are proud to be a hub for community voices and a platform for shared learning, dialogue, and discovery.

The ideal candidate will bring a track record of nonprofit leadership, a passion for community engagement, and a commitment to amplifying diverse voices. Experience with fundraising and development is helpful, but not central. Most importantly, this leader will bring creativity, clarity, and care in guiding the organization forward—strengthening partnerships, championing innovation, and expanding CC:Media’s impact across television, radio, and digital platforms.

Whether you're an Oregonian at heart or exploring the idea of making the Pacific Northwest your home, this is a unique opportunity to lead a mission-driven organization with a long-standing legacy and exciting future.

Come shape the future of community media—in a place where people come to live, lead, and belong.

About the Role

This is a full-time, in-person leadership role based in Salem, Oregon. As Executive Director, you will guide all aspects of Capital Community Media’s operations in alignment with its mission, values, and commitment to community voice and inclusion. Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will lead strategic planning, drive financial sustainability, foster external partnerships, and cultivate a healthy and collaborative organizational culture.

You’ll work alongside two department managers who lead a dedicated team of nine staff, and you'll collaborate with external partners, funders, and civic leaders to advance media access, digital equity, and civic engagement across Marion County and beyond.

The Executive Director is supported by a committed board of directors, a skilled staff team, a contracted accounting firm, and a development strategist. We’re looking for a leader who is excited to put down roots, invest in the long-term vision of CC:Media, and grow with the organization as we enter our next chapter.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a respected, community-rooted media center with a strong legacy and exciting potential for growth.

Facilities & Community

CC:Media operates from an 11,000 sq. ft. fully equipped media center in downtown Salem, along with a second 5,400 sq. ft. facility dedicated to vehicle storage, training, and equipment maintenance. The organization maintains over $2 million in media equipment assets—providing the tools and infrastructure to support high-quality, community-centered production and storytelling.

Salem, Oregon’s second-largest city, is the largest U.S. state capital without a local TV affiliate—making CC:Media a vital source for civic information and community connection. With affordable living, vibrant public institutions, and easy access to the coast, mountains, and wine country, Salem offers an ideal location for purpose-driven work and community engagement.

CC:Media also houses KMUZ, Salem’s long-running community radio station, within its facility—creating unique opportunities for cross-platform collaboration and innovative local media partnerships.
